What the course is like
The Navigation Licence, often known as the “Titulín”, is the most accessible recreational boating qualification for people who want to start sailing and handling small boats without taking an official theory exam.
It is especially suited to those who want to enjoy coastal sailing with family, a partner or friends, use small recreational boats or ride a jet ski, but do not yet need the privileges of higher qualifications such as the PNB (Basic Navigation Skipper) or the PER (Recreational Boat Skipper).
What exactly is the Navigation Licence?
Its purpose is to certify that the holder has a minimum knowledge of navigation, safety and boat handling that allows them to sail independently within certain limits.
So it is not just a matter of spending a few hours on board. The course teaches essential concepts so that the future skipper knows what to do before setting out, how to carry out a boat's basic manoeuvres and how to react to certain situations that can arise at sea.
The regulations state that this licence allows you to handle recreational boats up to 6 metres in length and jet skis, always within its navigation limits.
