How it works
To obtain the PER, you must pass the Short Range Radio Operator course.
The course lasts a minimum of 12 hours, of which at least 8 hours are practical training.
During the training you learn to use maritime radio equipment and to carry out routine, safety, urgency and distress communications correctly.
Once you have passed the Short Range Radio Operator course, you do not need to take it again to go on to Yacht Skipper (PY) or Yacht Captain (CY).
