PER

Recreational Boat Skipper

The Recreational Boat Skipper qualification, commonly known as “the PER”, qualifies you for coastal navigation on boats up to 15 metres. This highly sought-after boating qualification stands out because it does not require any previous licence or qualification. To obtain it, you pass a multiple-choice theory exam and complete practical training at an approved boating school.

This certificate is the ideal option for making a variety of passages as a skipper. As well as allowing you to handle motor and sailing boats, with the corresponding practical training the PER also qualifies you to ride jet skis.

Obtaining the Recreational Boat Skipper certificate is considered relatively accessible. In about two months it is possible to prepare the syllabus and complete the necessary practical training. Although the syllabus is not particularly difficult, spending time studying or attending a course can help those who prefer to make the most of the learning process. As for the practical training, completing it guarantees the certificate, with no further exams.
